Bio-Chem Consulting Services (1980) Ltd. is an analytical consulting Laboratory that has been providing dependable and reliable Bacteriology and Mycology (mould and yeast) testing services in Southern Alberta for over 40 years. During this time we have responded to the shifting demands of the industry and we currently offer a full range of testing services.

Types of Mycology & Bacteriology Testing

  • Viable airborne mould testing including concentrations and genus and species identification to determine the presence of toxigenic, allergenic, or pathogenic moulds
  • Viable airborne bacteria testing including concentrations and genus and species identification to determine the presence of pathogenic, Gram negative, or other bacteria that may contribute to negative health effects.
  • Non-viable spore trap cassette analysis for determining the total airborne spore concentration and the concentrations of more than 30 different spore Genera/Groups.
  • Bulk and tape lift samples for non-viable mould testing with identification of more than 30 different spore Genera/Groups.
  • Water microbiology testing for potable (drinking) water, recreational water and industrial water for many different parameters, including Coliforms, E. coli, Heterotrophic Plate Count, Salmonella, Pseudomonas, Legionella, Staphylococcus, Sulfate Reducing Bacteria, Acid Producing Bacteria, Iron Reducing Bacteria, and many other microbiological tests.
  • Soil microbiology testing for many different microbiological parameters, including all parameters listed above for water testing, as well as common soil-specific testing including Hydrocarbon-Degrading Bacteria, Denitrifying Bacteria, Enterococci, and many other microbiological tests.
  • Microbial limits testing of natural health products and cannabis to meet Health Canada testing requirements.
  • Bulk, sponge and tape lift samples for viable mould testing including concentrations and genus and species identification to determine the presence of toxigenic, allergenic, or pathogenic moulds.

Bio-Chem Consulting Services (1980) Ltd. maintains on-going successful participation in various proficiency analytical testing programs from AIHA and CALA, and maintains ISO 17025 accreditation for these services through CALA.

Our licensing with Health Canada allows us to offer a wide range of OTC/NIFP & DIN product pharmacological testing.
